Financial Times Modular Management Development Programme

Initial Project Brief: 
To deliver a bespoke development programme to create a forward thinking team that takes ownership for identifying and putting into action improvements in processes and for how they interact with each other and the rest of the business.

Research and development:

Following detailed research with the senior managers, we were able to identify 5 specific competencies requiring development within the team around which we designed 5, 1 day modules:
  • Leading people through change
  • Influencing and personal effectiveness
  • Persuading and influencing
  • Managing change in performance
  • Project managing change
The Programme:

The 6 team leaders undertook each module, one day a month over five months. 
Each module concluded with a Personal Implementation Plan (PIP) that required the delegates to transfer skills and ideas learned in the training room into the work place and report back during the following module.

We also implemented one-to-one coaching sessions with the 3 senior managers to ensure the delegates were supported by a management team who understood the key concepts and were able to provide feedback and coaching.  In addition we held regular update sessions to review delegate feedback from each module.

Results:

The programme has seen significant improvements in the delegates’ ability to manage their teams, manage change and maintain performance, at times in the face of adversity.
The organisation’s Finance Director UK, has commented, “I am very pleased with the progress made.  The team has grown in its capabilities and confidence.  It is better able to meet and achieve its objectives and as a result the business is benefiting.”
